Partial dentures replace missing teeth and they are removable. If the patient has missing teeth, a partial denture may be the answer to replacing those missing teeth and restoring their smile. They should be able to chew more easily and with greater comfort. The partial denture will prevent the natural teeth from shifting. Wearing a partial denture can be easy to adjust to and the old school of taking a denture or partial denture out at night and leaving it on the nightstand in a glass, is a fallacy. The only time the patient needs to remove a denture or partial denture is to brush it when brushing their existing teeth and place it back in their mouth. In time, the partial denture will become a part of the patient.

The picture above shows a cast-metal removable partial on the left and a flexible Valplast partial on the right. The Valplast partial is flexible and more comfortable to wear. It's design eliminates the silver clasps that help hold the partial in place and also designed to fit better without having the metal framework in the palate of the mouth. Missing teeth are replaced with porcelain or plastic teeth which will match the patients existing teeth. Gum-colored plastic or acrylic attaches these teeth to a metal framework on some types. We have several different colors of acrylic to match most gum colors. We also make tooth colored clasp so they are less obvious to the patient.

Patient has most of his upper and lower teeth missing. He had old partial dentures that did not fit properly and had silver clasp on each side which wrap around a couple of this existing front teeth for retention. These clasps were very obvious when smiling or talking.

This is the same patient which is shown on the left with his new upper and lower partial denture made of a flexible material called Valplast. The gum acrylic material above the teeth has been fabricated to match his existing gum color and the partials do not have the silver clasps showing on the front of his natural teeth. The look is much more natural.

This picture shows some of the acrylic shades to choose from. The top color is a soft pink, the middle color is a standard color and the bottom is called meharrey. These colors are designed to match the patients natural gum color and makes the partial less noticeable.
